The Wickedness of Man

Genesis 6:5

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” 

What causes man to sin? Why did God allow sin to enter into the world? Why is the heart deceitful and desperately wicked?

Why does a man double-cross and abandon his friend? Why does a husband slander his wife? Why does a son disrespect his parents? Why does man covet? Why can’t he be satisfied with what he has?

Why is there lust and hatred and deceit? Why does man love but does not receive love in return? Why does man get lonely? Why does he need happiness?

Why is man wretched and perverse and by nature corrupt? Why is he thoughtless and inconsiderate and faithless and treacherous? Why does he pretend to be a friend but in reality he is a viper, a snake, a wolf?

Why does man love to lie? to hurt, to dupe, to mislead, to betray? Why does he enjoy making fools of others?

Why is man shameless? Where is his conscience? Where is his sense of propriety and righteous judgment?

Why does man love himself above God and above all else?

Why does he hate good and love evil? Why does he love to sin? Why does he love sin, nurture it, feed it, cling to it, cleave to it?

Why does man find it hard to be good and godly and humble and honest and selfless and kind?

Matthew 15:19
