He Restores My Soul

There will be times when we will drift off from our first love, Jesus our Shepherd.  We will wander until we reach the precipice out of curiosity and fascination on the enticing view of the world below, of Satan’s invitation, on the palatable appearance of wolves dressed as sheep like us.

And so we will get drawn to their (false) companionship, listen to every lie they say, believe every promise they make.

But being the wolves that they are, they will break our foolish and stupid vulnerable hearts, shatter our dreams, and put our hopes to waste. With head bowed and spirit bruised, we weep with remorse.  Jesus our Healer finds us and binds our wounds.  His rebukes of love are by far sweeter than the sweetest thing on earth. Our wandering has caused us pain and trouble, yet He will restore us, take us in His arms, and bring us home.

“Then, what soul is not sometimes hurt, wounded, torn –by the wild beasts of temptation? Sin is a fearful thing. It wounds the soul—and no hand but Christ’s can restore it. But if we put our hurt life into His hand, He will give healing. What millions of sin’s woundings has our Good Shepherd cured!” J. R. Miller

“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:3
