Deserted but Comforted

The treacherous and the deceitful can turn his back on the Christian... deny them, forsake them, spurn them, make fun of them, double-cross them, treat them like dirt... but the Christian is God’s beloved. The Christian is God’s jewel (Malachi 3:17), the apple of His eyes (Psalm 17:8; Zech. 2:8), an heir of heaven (Rom. 8:17), whose sins are forgiven, chosen before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4; 1 Peter 1:20), justified through Jesus Christ, redeemed, sanctified, and shall be glorified on the day of the Lord (Rom. 8-18-21; 2 Cor. 4:17). The Christian’s affliction is but for a moment (2 Cor.4:17). God keeps track of their misery; their tears are not futile for God has placed every drop of them in a bottle (Psalm 56:8).

“They are precious in His sight! He knows they are weak and fearful – and that they have many enemies. He teaches them to cast themselves and all their cares into His hands! And He has given them His promise – that He will care for them.” James Smith

“The waves of sorrow are very deep – but still and forever underneath the deepest floods –are the everlasting arms. We cannot sink below them. If we lie down in sickness, the everlasting arms are underneath us. If human friendships are stripped off, and we stand alone in our bereavement, still we are not alone. Underneath are the everlasting arms. God remains –and God suffices.”  J.R. Miller
