The treacherous and the deceitful can turn his back on the Christian... deny them, forsake
them, spurn them, make fun of them, double-cross them, treat them like dirt... but
the Christian is God’s beloved. The Christian is God’s jewel (Malachi 3:17), the apple of His eyes (Psalm 17:8; Zech. 2:8), an heir of
heaven (Rom. 8:17), whose sins are forgiven, chosen before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4; 1 Peter 1:20), justified through Jesus Christ, redeemed, sanctified, and shall be glorified on the day of the Lord (Rom. 8-18-21; 2 Cor. 4:17). The Christian’s
affliction is but for a moment (2 Cor.4:17). God keeps track of their misery; their tears
are not futile for God has placed every drop of them in a bottle (Psalm 56:8).
“They are precious in His sight! He knows they are weak and
fearful – and that they have many enemies. He teaches them to cast themselves
and all their cares into His hands! And He has given them His promise – that He
will care for them.” James Smith
